Dr. Angelique Nedved serves as SchoolSmartKC’s President and CEO. Through organizational leadership, she guides the team in achieving SSKC’s mission of eliminating the opportunity gap for students in the Kansas City Public Education System. In Kansas City, Dr. Nedved serves as a reliable advisor, collaborating closely with school leaders, community partners, and both regional and national thought leaders. Together, they engage in listening, learning, strategic planning, and the application of ideas at the intersection of philanthropy and education, empowering communities to thrive and students to flourish.
A lifelong educator, Angelique is known for her relational approach, dedicated to cultivating purposeful partnerships that inspire creative thinking and strategic improvements. This commitment is demonstrated through her recognition as one of the country’s Top 30 Transformers, Technologists, and Trailblazers in 2016. Her journey through and perspective on educational equity stems from experience as a classroom teacher, building principal, and district leader, witnessing the impact of inequity on underrepresented communities in public schools.
Prior to her role as CEO, Angelique served as Chief Program Officer and Director of School Quality for SchoolSmartKC, roles that continued to deepen her understanding of the importance of community involvement and necessity of collaboration to design and catalyze tactical solutions ensuring a culturally relevant and high-quality public education.
Dr. Nedved earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, holds a Masters in Education Administration, and a Bachelors in Secondary and Elementary Education.
