Data and Analysis

For our school system to truly thrive it must be data-informed and data-driven, so that all stakeholders know how our schools are performing and how we can collectively best support schools and our students.

SchoolSmartKC has focused heavily on working with our schools and community stakeholders to support and build strong data systems that help inform the best paths for parents and our school system and cement critical partnerships for the benefit of our students.

Currently data systems used to enroll, track and support students vary in success by school, and quality data is often inaccessible to parents and stakeholders seeking to better understand how schools are serving them.

The impact of this reaches far and wide, as families struggle to choose between schools for their students and school leaders are unable to assess and address systemwide challenges in partnership with other schools. The result is slow school improvement, and high levels of frustration.

SchoolSmartKC is committed to changing the way that data works within our education system. We are funding universal systems and applications such as SchoolAppKC, which aid in data transparency and interoperability of data systems, all to streamline experiences for families. Improved data systems across schools are also well positioned to create build new collaboratives that transform inefficient systems such as transportation and food service and provide greater resources for special education students as well as strong postsecondary pathways.
